Trip Re-cap: Day 1. November 15, 2010

Day 1: I had to work early in the morning until 1:30 pm. I rushed home, touched up my make-up and was off to the airport to meet him. I checked in, got through security and found a bathroom to make sure I look okay. At this point I can't even believe this is really happening. I keep looking around thinking I must be dreaming. I get to our gate and look around at all the people sitting there. I don't see him. I dig out my phone and send him a text "Are you here?"... ... ... "Yes, I am indeed" I look up again, somehow expecting him to materialize out of one of the seats. I realize I was genuinely concerned that he had missed his flight in France. My phone buzzes again and he says "I'm going through security" so I'll tell him "I'm at the bottom of the stairs that lead to our gate" and find a good spot to stand out of the way but in sight of the stairs. Finally (after several long minutes of sweating palms and a racing heart) I see a face I recognize on a tall man walking down the stairs. He smiles at me. It's definitely him. Unsure if I should walk to him or let him walk to me, I sway out of balance before deciding to meet him halfway. I step in front of him and don't know what to say. He says he smells "like a buffalo" from all the travelling. I ask if he really thinks I care before throwing my arms around him.

There were still nerves to overcome that day, but it didn't take long for us to feel comfortable around each other. Overall I think our first meeting was pretty perfect. :)
